Today was a really exciting day! The morning started out normal enough until I realized it was election day which immediately prompted me to not only start dancing around my kitchen but also to get dressed immediately. And all this before 9 am!

The morning was full of high energy as I started to explain to my four year old what it meant to vote and answer a gazillion adorable questions about presidents, elections and such. Who knew a four year old would be so interested in politics! Before we knew it lunch was over and walked to the corner to meet some friends so we could all walk to our neighborhood polling place together.

It was almost impossible to deny to Obama fever and we even had a neighbor joke that she voted for McCain. Although, not a democrat Obama had my vote so I was feeling pretty hopeful; especially after we walked by this:
"Are we voting for a pumpkin?"

As we pointed out “Obama” to the boys my son asked a very insightful question with his voice full of confusion, “Are we voting for a pumpkin mom?” Ah, the inner workings of a child’s mind never cease to entertain and remind me of the power of perspective. We entered the school gym and I nervously asked to be reminded how to work the incredibly outdated polling machine fully equipped with an automatic closing curtain circa 1962. I sent the boy ahead to snap this picture and as you can tell he was very well aware at the serious nature of our task. We were making history!
