I recently heard the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers Speak and they emphasized and encouraged women to gather in council. I have spent the last few weeks reflecting on this idea and miraculously I found myself sitting in a circle with seven women this past weekend. We brought our children, an upbeat vibe, conscious intention and of course lots of great food and drink.
After our children were in bed we sat in a circle and brought our treasures to sit in the middle with a lit candle and a jeweled treasure box. We all wrote intentions on a slip of paper and went around the circle offering our intentions and receiving the groups support. We sang songs, swapped jokes and took turns checking on the sleeping children. It was tribal living in modern form and my soul rejoiced at being able to participate. It was such a relief to have such a strong group of women to share chores, childcare and most importantly to share our joy!
I think participating in a women’s circle is important work. Renewing the soul of a mother passes spiritual nourishment to her children. Thank you my wise women for such a wonderful and uplifting weekend.
